The Science Academy of South Texas recently announced that it has been recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through PLTW Computer Science, Biomedical Science, and Engineering.

Lady Rockets basketball to make first-time appearance at state tournament

For the past three seasons, the Rising Scholars Academy of South Texas (Rising Scholars) Lady Rockets basketball team has qualified to compete at the regional tournament, and this year for the first time ever, the Lady Rockets clinched the win and will advance to the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League State Tournament.

Students from South Texas Independent School District’s (STISD) South Texas High School for Health Professions (Med High) in Mercedes and South Texas Academy for Medical Professions (Medical Academy) in Olmito will participate in The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s (UTRGV) first Education Collaboration for Aspiring Health Professionals (ECAHP) competition, Saturday, Feb. 9, at UTRGV’s Medical Education Building Auditorium on the Edinburg Campus.
